Printable Invitations with extra “oomph”!

Our friend, Jessica, went the extra mile when it came to creativity! Our designs are sent to you ready to cut and assemble… but if you are looking for that little extra “oomph” to make your DIY party printable package grab even more attention, check out what she did!

She layered the printed invitation on a textured paper backing that complimented the colors in the invite. Instead of using the thank you card artwork as a folded card, she cut out one side, layered it on a colored card stock and added the cutest 3D dinosaur sticker shown. Jessica still had plenty of room on the back to send out her “thank yous”. Such a cute idea!! Thanks for sharing, Jessica!

DIY Jumbo Chalk!

Outdoor Summer Party DIY Jumbo Chalk

We cannot believe summer is wrapping up and we are heading into back-to-school season again–this calls for a back-to-school party (really, we will find any excuse for a party). What better thing to make for a back-to-school party than JUMBO chalk! Oh My has a great tutorial on this (with pictures) so be sure to check it out in greater detail!

Before you get started make sure you grab these materials:

• Toilet paper or paper towel tubes
• Scissors
• Duct tape
• Wax paper
• Small mixing bucket
• ¾ cup of warm water
• 1 ½ cups Plaster of Paris
• 2-3 tablespoons of tempera paint

Then, as shown in Oh My, you simply mix the ingredients above, contain them in the towel tubes, let harden, peel back the tubes and use! Super fun! These would make a great end of summer/back-to-school party favor or party game for the kiddos!

The Cutting Edge!

custom printable party invitations helpful hints

We have had an overwhelming amount of questions about which products we use to cut our own projects, especially the circles! In an effort to help ease your assembly for any of our party printables, below are the “cutting edge” products that we use often:

We have the Fiskars SureCut 12″ Paper Trimmer. Any should do the trick, but we have not had any problems with this one. We also use exacto knives. You can cut over a thick piece of cardboard or buy an inexpensive plastic cutting board at the dollar store (what we prefer)!
We also use the Fiskars circle cutter (I guess we have a thing for Fiskars products, huh?). It cuts circles from 1″ to 8″ and the clear base makes it easy to see exactly where you are cutting. This is a sample of a 2″ scallop circle punch. We also use the 2″ circle and 2″ rectangle punches. These are the easiest to use when punching out your cake toppers or even the favor tags. You can purchase larger (or smaller) sizes as well, depending on what you want to do with them.

All of these products can be found at Target, Walmart or most major craft stores such as Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or AC Moore. Do you have a particular product that you swear by? We would love to hear your suggestions as well! Let us know what other cutting edge products we might be missing!
